Keepers continues the conversations of my Stuff divestment series but considers what makes some objects keepers as visitors sit in the chairs swapping stories with me. The series is conducted in an upstairs corner of Articulate project space, referencing the attic where the objects have been for many years. The two chairs and the two hats are from Stuff 2019 – the chairs were left to me by one grandmother (I think because we used to sit in them to eat lunch and watch the tennis when I came over to garden) and I couldn’t bring myself to give them away. The hats, too small for me, belonged to my other, very stylish, grandmother and although I gave them away during Stuff 2019 to friends with smaller heads, I couldn’t bear it and asked for them back (Stuff back 2021). The barrel is filled with clothes my family can’t bring themselves to give or throw away, added to over the years despite some being reduced to rags.
