Created in the context of a group exhibition, the work invites visitors to take a closer look at the project space, to take its measure by hunting out obscure features of the space using instructions (see two examples below) that challenge our sense of orientation in our immediate surroundings and the wider world.
“Upstairs
Walk from the top of the stairs to face Terrence Plaejnvaig’s pink and yellow A Virtual Painting (get close enough to write in the book), turn 90° to your right so you face roughly south, take one step and look down to spot two beautiful painted metal patches nailed into the wooden floor 32 cm apart, the longer and closer one is parallel to the floorboards, the other smaller one is at a bit of an angle.”
“Downstairs
Walk away from Parramatta Road towards the back of Articulate project space and, after stepping up onto the wooden floor section, find a giant vertical wooden post (with ‘distressed look’ paint remnants on it) against the wall to the east. Above head height on the side of the post facing Parramatta Road you will find a neat rectangular nook.”
